Bharat Heavy Electricals has bagged a Rs 291 crore order to set up a
101 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant for Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
BHEL, which
will execute the project at Kuttalam in Tamil Nadu on Engineering Procureement
Construction contractor basis, would complete the project in 21 months,
a company statement said here.
Besides
BHEL, bidders for the project included L&T and Sumitomo Corporation
who had offered the proven state of the art Advanced Class Gas Turbine
(Fr6FA) of GE, USA technology.
While the
gas turbine and steam turbine will be manufactured at BHEL's Hyderabad
plant, the HRSG will be manufactured at the company's Trichy plant.
The controls
and instrumentation will be supplied by BHEL's Electronics Division,
Bangalore, and the electrics will be supplied by the company's Jhansi
plant.BHEL has won similar contracts, involving the manufacture and
supply of Advance Class Gas Turbines (Fr6FA) for 108 MW Kovilkalappal
CCPP, followed by 95 MW Perungulam CCPP of TNEB and 107 MW Dhuvaran
CCPP of GSECL, on EPC basis.
While Kovilkalappal
CCPP was commissioned in March 2001, Perungulam CCPP is in an advanced
stage and is likely to be commissioned shortly, the release added.
