Industrial Automation Leaders come together to form 'Automation Industry Association'

Leading industrial automation players in the country have come together and announced the formation of the Automation Industry Association (AIA) with a primary mission to enable global competitiveness of Indian industry across sectors. The members of the association include ABB India, Emerson, Siemens, Larsen and Toubro (L&T), Tata Honeywell, Rockwell Automation, Yokogawa India Ltd. and Invensys India."The formation of AIA is a unique achievement as it brings together for the first time, all the leading automation technology players in the country for a common and customer focused cause. AIA's primary aim will be to increase knowledge and awareness levels when it comes to cutting edge automation technologies and help Indian industry leverage these for greater productivity, efficiency, quality and consistency - the key to global competitiveness. As India integrates itself with the world economy and Indian industry looks beyond national borders, the need for such an initiative has never been greater. State-of-the-art automation technologies have a vital role to play in facilitating this effort," said Ravi Uppal, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, ABB India, who has been appointed as the Hon. President of AIA.
Andreas Herrmann, EVP and Head - Automation& Drives Division, Siemens India has been appointed as Hon. Vice President and AIA's high powered steering committee includes captains of the industry - Vinayak Deshpande, MD Tata Honeywell Ltd., J.P. Singh, Chief Executive (Electronics Sector II) Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Ranjan De, MD, Rockwell Automation India Ltd., Noriaki Hirose, Managing Director, Yokogawa India Ltd., Pradipta Sen, President & MD, Emerson Process Management (India) Pvt. Ltd. and Rakesh Gada, Managing Director, Invensys India. AIA will serve as a key facilitator in the information sharing, deployment and development of automation technologies and showcasing the latest trends and global best practices across the process, manufacturing and consumer industries. The association will provide a common platform when interfacing with government and other institutions, thereby playing an important role in shaping related policies and standards. Amongst its objectives, AIA also intends to foster awareness and knowledge amongst a wider audience through academia interface. The association will also promote best practices within the automation industry and encourage innovation to promote the cause of Indian industry. AIA has been registered and headquartered in Mumbai and will work towards building a strong nationwide collaboration to promote industrial automation technologies. AIA will function as an autonomous body and be an affiliated member of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), India's premier business association. The Association also has the support of ARC Advisory Group, a leading global automation consulting and research body.
