Welcomes Yokogawas Field Instrument Business
To PKS Advantage Program
Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced that Yokogawa has
joined Honeywells PKS Advantage Program, a collaborative effort
allowing thirdparty vendors to integrate their products with Honeywells
Experion Process Knowledge System. The PKS Advantage Program gives customers
greater flexibility in choosing field solutions for their businesses,
and the addition of Yokogawa strengthens the options customers currently
have.Honeywell and Yokogawa possess extensive process and automation
control knowledge. It is our customers who will benefit as we
collaborate in such an open program, said Harry Sim, Vice President
- Marketing for Honeywell Process Solutions. Many of Yokogawas
field products are considered by industry experts as best in their class.
We are delighted to integrate these fine products with our own and create
even more opportunities for our customers to make the most of their
operations. We joined the PKS Advantage Program to provide
our quality field instruments to users of Honeywells host systems.
By participating in the program, both Yokogawa and Honeywell can collaborate
and certify integration with each other, said K. Hiromi, Vice
President of Yokogawa. Field Instruments Business Division. Yokogawa
Field Instruments will continue to put customers first by supporting
truly open solutions and providing Yokogawas superior technologies.
As part of the program, Yokogawa will include its digital YEWFLO Vortex
Flowmeters, EJX Pressure Transmitters and the YVP Advanced Valve Positioner,
along with its ValveNavi software. Over time, these devices will be
integrated into the Honeywell Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS).
Honeywell and Yokogawa will begin integrating products in the first
quarter of 2005. According to ARC Research Director Larry OBrien,
Honeywells PKS Advantage Program represents a true effort
on the part of Honeywell to provide openness and integration of third
party products within the Experion PKS automation infrastructure, and
this latest alliance with Yokogawa is beneficial for customers of both
companies. Many users view Yokogawas field instrumentation as
best in class, and both companies have considerable experience when
it comes to the implementation of Fieldbus systems. Experion PKS
integrates process and business data across the entire facility, making
information and knowledge available where and when needed, so process
manufacturers can make the right decisions. Asset Manager is a suite
of advanced asset management applications within the Experion PKS platform
that continuously and automatically monitors the status, events and
operating conditions of all plant assets and field-connected devices.
Other PKS Advantage Program participants include Dresser- Masoneilan,
Endress+Hauser, Flowserve Corporation and Krohne. The program uses open
communication protocols such as Foundation Fieldbus, HART, Profibus
and OPC.
